Solar energy system owners looking for an affordable and portable energy storage system should evaluate the ArkPak, a $399 battery pack system with a built-in charger and power outputs that can hold a 12V battery of up to 130ah storage capacity. Unlike other portable battery pack systems, the ArkPak is the only system in the world with a built in charger and inverter where the battery is removable and replaceable. Hence the ArkPak can accommodate hundreds of different deep-cycle lead-acid batteries up to 130ah (sized Group 31 or smaller).

ArkPak as a solar power storage unit

The ArkPak includes a sophisticated 6 amp, 7 stage battery smart-charging and conditioning system with multiple power outlets (both 12V DC and 120V AC), Anderson plugs that are compatible with many solar systems, and of course direct connections to the battery via 100amp external terminals. While the ArkPak does not include a solar system charge controller, solar power system owners will find connecting their existing solar charging system’s charge controller to the ArkPak to be very easy.

“When we came up with the ArkPak, we wanted to create a very flexible power system,” says Martin Walters, marketing manager at Ark Corporation, “The ArkPak is a great tool for people who are thinking about installing a simple solar system in a remote cabin. Just mount your solar panels, hook up your solar charge controller, and plug it directly into the ArkPak. You’ve then got up to 130ah of energy storage in a box you can take with you when you leave.”

In addition to serving as an energy storage system for solar applications, the ArkPak is also great for campers, boaters, hunters, tailgaters, jump starters and anyone else looking for a portable power source. The ArkPak can be charged AC from a home power outlet, DC via a vehicle, and of course DC via a solar system.

“We learn about new uses for the ArkPak every day,” says Walters, “from solar energy storage for alpine yurts to powering flat-screen TVs while tailgating, we’re proud to say the ArkPak is an incredibly versatile bit of kit.”
